Karen Vernon, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse, founder of Menopause Masters®

“I believe women deserve more than being told to simply cope with menopause. They deserve to understand what is happening, why it is happening, and how evidence-based psychological strategies can help them regain confidence, clarity and control.”

— Karen Vernon

Why I Created Menopause Masters®

Many women tell me they no longer feel like themselves.

They describe struggling with brain fog, anxiety, reduced confidence and overwhelming self-doubt—often while continuing to manage demanding careers, families and responsibilities.

Too often, these psychological changes are dismissed as something women simply have to “push through.”

As a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse, I knew there had to be a better way.

I created Menopause Masters® to bridge the gap between menopause education and evidence-based psychological support, helping women understand not only what they are experiencing, but why it happens and, most importantly, what they can do about it.

FAQ’s

Why did you specialise in menopause?

I specialised in menopause because I kept seeing professional women who were not simply struggling with “symptoms” — they were questioning their confidence, competence and identity.
Many described brain fog, anxiety, poor sleep, emotional overwhelm and a sense that they no longer felt like themselves. Yet the psychological impact of perimenopause and menopause is often overlooked or treated as something women just have to push through.
As a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse, I wanted to create evidence-based support that helps women understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what they can do to regain clarity, confidence and control.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychological therapy recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). It helps you understand how your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physical symptoms interact.
Within Menopause Masters®, CBT is adapted specifically for the psychological impact of perimenopause and menopause, helping you regain confidence, reduce anxiety, improve focus and develop practical skills that create lasting change.

Do you offer one-to-one therapy?

Yes. Alongside the Menopause Masters® Academy, I offer private one-to-one Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for women who would benefit from personalised support.
Therapy sessions are tailored to your individual needs and are ideal if you’re experiencing significant anxiety, loss of confidence, workplace difficulties or other emotional challenges associated with menopause.
You can book an initial consultation to discuss the most appropriate option for you.

Can I join the Academy anywhere in the world?

Yes. The Menopause Masters® Academy is delivered entirely online, allowing you to learn at your own pace from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
Please note that individual therapy services may only be available where professional registration and regulations permit.

How is this different from counselling?

Counselling provides a supportive space to explore your experiences and emotions.
CBT is a structured, goal-focused and evidence-based therapy that teaches practical strategies to change unhelpful thinking patterns, reduce anxiety and improve emotional wellbeing.
The Menopause Masters® Academy combines specialist menopause knowledge with clinically informed CBT techniques, giving you practical tools that you can continue using long after completing the programme.

Will the Academy help if I have brain fog?

Many women join because they’re experiencing brain fog, poor concentration, forgetfulness and a loss of confidence at work.
The Academy explains why hormonal changes can affect thinking and provides practical CBT-based strategies to help improve focus, manage anxiety and rebuild confidence. Individual experiences vary, but many women report feeling more in control and better able to cope with day-to-day challenges.

Is the Academy suitable if I’m already taking HRT?

Yes. The Menopause Masters® Academy complements medical care rather than replacing it.
Whether you’re taking HRT, unable to take HRT, or exploring other treatment options, the Academy focuses on the psychological skills, behavioural strategies and evidence-based CBT techniques that can support your overall wellbeing alongside any medical treatment recommended by your healthcare professional.
